The Journal of Smart Computing and Data Intelligence (JSCDI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity, transparency, ethical publishing practices, and the preservation of the scholarly record. The journal adheres to internationally recognized publication ethics and follows the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other globally accepted scholarly publishing guidelines.

The Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board are responsible for all editorial decisions regarding manuscript acceptance, publication, withdrawal, retraction, removal, or replacement. These decisions are based on editorial evaluation, peer-review recommendations, ethical considerations, and applicable legal requirements.

Published articles form part of the permanent scholarly record and should remain accessible whenever possible. However, in exceptional circumstances, articles may be withdrawn, retracted, removed, or replaced to preserve the integrity and reliability of the scientific literature. 

Article Withdrawal

Article withdrawal applies to manuscripts that have been accepted for publication or published online as Articles in Press but have not yet been assigned to a final journal issue.

An article may be withdrawn under the following circumstances:

• Accidental duplicate submission or publication.
• Author-requested withdrawal before final publication with valid justification.
• Significant errors identified during the production process.
• Violations of publication ethics, including plagiarism, duplicate submission, fabricated or falsified data, false authorship claims, or manipulated research results.
• Serious legal, ethical, or technical concerns identified during the final editorial review.

When an article is withdrawn:

• The manuscript PDF and online content will be removed from the journal website.
• A withdrawal notice will replace the article, indicating that it has been withdrawn in accordance with the journal's Article Withdrawal Policy.
• The withdrawal will be documented to maintain transparency and the integrity of the publication record. 

Article Retraction

Retraction is issued when a published article is found to contain serious ethical violations or significant errors that invalidate its findings, conclusions, or scientific reliability.

Reasons for retraction may include:

• Plagiarism or substantial similarity to previously published work.
• Duplicate or redundant publication.
• Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of research data.
• False authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or inappropriate contributorship.
• Serious methodological errors that invalidate the study.
• Violations of research ethics or publication ethics.
• Any other misconduct that compromises the integrity of the scholarly record.

In the event of retraction:

• A formal Retraction Notice titled "Retraction: [Article Title]" will be published.
• The notice may be issued by the authors, the Editor-in-Chief, or the Editorial Board.
• The original article will remain accessible in the journal archive to preserve the scholarly record but will be clearly marked "Retracted" on every page.
• The online version of the article will include a prominent link to the retraction notice explaining the reasons for the retraction. 

Article Removal

Article removal is considered only in exceptional circumstances where legal or regulatory obligations require complete removal of the published content.

Removal may occur if:

• The article contains defamatory, unlawful, or offensive material.
• The article infringes copyright or other legal rights.
• A court order or legal authority requires removal.
• The content poses a serious risk to public health, safety, or security if relied upon.

In such cases:

• The article content will be removed from the journal website.
• The article title, author information, citation details, and metadata will remain available whenever legally permissible.
• A notice will explain that the article has been removed for legal or regulatory reasons.

 

Article Replacement

In rare situations where a published article contains critical errors that may significantly affect scientific interpretation but can be corrected, authors may request publication of a corrected version.

When article replacement is approved:

• The original article will be retracted.
• A corrected version may be published after editorial evaluation and, where necessary, additional peer review.
• Clear links will connect both versions to ensure complete transparency and continuity of the scholarly record. 

Preservation of the Scholarly Record

The Journal of Smart Computing and Data Intelligence (JSCDI) is committed to preserving the integrity, transparency, and long-term accessibility of scholarly publications.

Even in cases of withdrawal, retraction, removal, or replacement, appropriate notices will be maintained so that readers, researchers, indexing services, and academic institutions can clearly understand the publication history of each article.

All editorial decisions concerning publication corrections are made by the Editorial Board in accordance with internationally accepted ethical standards, academic best practices, and the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Important Note

• Article Processing Charges (APCs) are non-refundable once a manuscript has entered the editorial and peer-review process, has been accepted for publication, or has been published.
• Submission of a manuscript confirms that all authors agree to comply with the journal's editorial policies, publication ethics, and withdrawal and retraction procedures.
• The Editorial Board reserves the right to take appropriate action in cases of suspected research misconduct to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
